Ensuring the highest standards are always met

At Local Movers, we believe that choosing a removals company should give you confidence from the moment you request a quote through to the final item being delivered. Our professional affiliations and industry memberships reflect our commitment to quality, consumer protection, safe transport and reliable moving services.

The National Guild of Removers & Storers

The National Guild of Removers & Storers was formed in 1991 and is one of the removals industry’s most respected professional bodies. It is the only trade association in the sector whose members are required to pass an annual independent inspection while taking part in an ongoing quality-monitoring programme.

When you trust a removals company with your home, furniture and treasured possessions, you need to know that it meets high standards of customer care and consumer protection. Guild members must comply with the rules of the Removals Industry Ombudsman Scheme, giving customers an extra layer of reassurance when choosing a professional mover.

The Removals Industry Ombudsman Scheme

The Removals Industry Ombudsman Scheme, known as RIOS, provides an independent route for resolving disputes between member removals companies and their clients. It is available to domestic customers as well as commercial organisations when the National Guild of Removers & Storers’ conciliation service has not reached a satisfactory outcome.

The Scheme is a full member of the British and Irish Ombudsman Association. Its recognition is based on key principles including independence, effectiveness, fairness and accountability. For customers, this means there is an impartial process in place should an issue ever need to be formally reviewed.

The British Association of Removers

For more than a century, the British Association of Removers (BAR) has promoted professionalism, service quality and safe working practices across the removals industry.

Choosing a BAR member gives customers added peace of mind that they are working with a reputable and professionally run removals company. It also means that, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong during your move, there is an established industry body and customer-support framework to turn to.

Irish Road Haulage Association

The Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) is the recognised national representative body for the licensed road-haulage industry in the Republic of Ireland. Its members operate under Road Haulage Operator Licences issued by the Department of Transport, which are required when goods are carried for hire or reward.

Founded in 1973, the IRHA represents and promotes Ireland’s licensed road-haulage industry both nationally and internationally. The Association champions excellence, professionalism and safety in road transport operations—standards that align closely with how Local Movers approaches every household move, business relocation and transport job.
